How about indulging all that into one plate of Yasai Itame, which is stir fried mix vegetables where you can practically combine all that you have in your fridge and together with one kind of protein or another and stir fried them together.
Because that’s a good portion of vegetables and poultry all together, you can basically have it as a deli rice bowl as well. It’s an effective and efficient dish when you need to clear all the long standing small quantities of each and everything in your fridge and throwing them all and stir frying them together with some kinds of meat. It’s a quick and simple dish and having them with a good bowl of rice is all you need to clear that.
Now don’t be amazed by this portion of Yasai Itame. It can basically feed for two servings. You are free to include any other kinds of vege you desire and cooking them quickly on high heat for a short while prevents the water from seeping out fast during cooking.

Yasai Itame (Japanese Stir Fried Vegetables)
Ingredients
For the Ingredients
- 250 g sliced pork
- 1/2 cabbage sliced
- 3-4 shitake mushrooms sliced
- 1/2 carrot diced
- 3-4 stalks of scallions cut into sections
- 1 tbsp minced garlic
- 1 tbsp cooking oil
For the Pork Marinade
- 1 tbsp light soy sauce
- 1 tsp corn flour
- 1 tsp pepper
- 1 tbsp shaoxing wine
- 1 tsp worchester sauce
For the Seasonings
- 1 tbsp light soy sauce
- 2 1/2 tbsp sugar
- 1 tsp pepper
- 1 tsp dark soy sauce
- 1 tbsp worchester sauce
Instructions
- Marinade the pork for at least an hour.
- Heat up the oil on medium heat and add the minced garlic and cook till fragrant.
- Add the pork and stir fried till half cooked.
- Add in all the rest of the vegetables and stir fried quickly on high heat till the vegetables are softened.
- Add in the seasonings all at once and give it a few more quick stirs to blend in the seasonings.
- Dish and serve hot.
