Probably because HK is a relatively easy place to travel around and having been there several times, I planned for a solo trip this time, and solely for the purpose of therapeutic shopping so that I could jolly well shop to my heart’s contents. And for the consecutively 3 nights I was there, it was close to 10 hours of walking everyday ! Hahaha ! Well, this is woman ok, our in-born forte and stamina whenever it comes to shopping. Other things aside, we are always “well-trained” for such exercise.
Here are the highlights of my 3 nights in HK with pictures all taken using the smartphone without any filters !
Day 1 :
When I arrived at the hotel, it was slightly before 7am. The hotel is full as usual and I pushed so hard before they allowed me an early check in at 10am, which otherwise should be at 2pm. And so I had 3 hours to spare. And this 3 hours were terrible !! Not a single shop was opened except for fast food joints. None of the Cha Chan Teng 茶餐厅 nearby were opened either.
So here comes my first meal in HK. Mac breakfast. Grrrr…..
Found a 24-hour supermarket opened and that killed abit of time. When I saw some Cha Chan Teng started opening around 9am, I decided I had to hop into one to rest. The midnight flight was draining ! I had the hand-made fish balls soup at Tsui Wah Cha Chan Teng. I preferred our local fishballs though. :p
And thereafter, finally manage to get myself check-in to the hotel !! So I planned my next itinerary to New Town Plaza in Sha Tin, where Snoopy’s World is found there. It’s a huge shopping mall with most of the big brands, like Marks and Spencer, H&M, etc and a Japanese departmental store Yata. Snoopy’s World is an outdoor facility and I was only there for 15 minutes and I could feel the heat scorching down my neck. Had an admiration for the kids who can literally jump and play there for hours.
Got an ice-cream cone from Haagen-Dazs to cool myself down !
Went back to Yau Ma Tei which is where my hotel is located and headed for Shanghai Street ! My favourite part of HK and of course, I am sure for all baking enthusiats too !
Went to Twinsco first followed by the various shops that stretches along Shanghai Street. And I was really very happy with all the purchases !! Retail therapy does work indeed, guaranteed and chop !
But my legs were staging a protest already, so I brought back the porridge dinner from my favourite stall just right across the hotel, Sheng Ji Zhou Mian ! Not sure if you can tell much from the picture, but the meatballs were indeed huge and plentiful and the porridge was great.
Day 2 – To be continued….
Hi! I’ve been reading quite a number of food blogs which mentioned about visiting Shanghai Street in HK. Just wondering, are the baking supplies there really cheaper and is it worth to make a trip there? Thanks !!
Hi Xinyi ! I would think not everything is cheaper on Shanghai Street as compared to Singapore but their variety is alot more than SG and because it’s basically many shops consolidated at a single place, so u can compare the prices.
thanks for the reply!
p.s. i really enjoy reading your blog posts! ;)
Awww… thanks, Xinyi! You made my day ! :)
