Are you a ramen lover ? If so, then aren’t you excited that a relatively new chain of ramen stores have been sprouting in town recently. In less than 6 months, this is the 3rd store that has set its foot in Singapore and it’s none other than the Ramen Kagetsu Arashi, now branching out at The Cathay !
And I was pretty honored to be able to witness its official opening that follows a customary Japanese tradition and a drum performance that follows suit.
A very fascinating sight. An eye-opening indeed !
Ramen Kagetsu Arashi is renowned for its signature add-ons, allowing customers to customize their ramen to their own taste buds. And the best part of all these….. is that it comes at no extra charge !! In times of inflation, such news are always deem as welcoming, don’t you agree ?
The 4 main add-ons comprises of :– fresh garlic cloves using garlic press – daily prepared special in-house seasoned chives – specially imported black pepper – special soy sauce made from Kagetsu’s secret recipe; passed down from generations
The Arashi Genkotsu Ramen is the iconic signature of the restaurant, having its in-house Tonkotsu broth simmering for hours before serving. With an abundance of pork marrow bones, fat and collagen simmered together for a distinguished taste and thickness, the signature dish has always pride itself as the undoubtedly hot favourite since its establishment.
And if you feel that you need the extra meat to whet your appetite further, the option of topping up “More Char Siew” is made available too, at a very reasonable price of $3 for an extra 5 pieces that you can count on !
Here’s mine Arashi Genkotsu Ramen with “More Char Siew” and “Extra Garlic” !
However, if you are those that are always on the look-out for new challenging flavours, here’s one that you could give it a go ~ made up of a harmonious blend of dried bonito and pork bones, the Ginjiro Ramen is a whimsy creation that’s surprisingly very rich in flavour.
Ramen alone would never be perfect without some side dishes to complement it. The Gyoza made itself as an ideal choice for a side. With the Gyoza skin specially imported from Japan, the Gyoaza maintains its crispiness and chewy texture even after the frying, never too drying nor too oily to begin with. For those who are looking into a light bite, the Gyoza marks a faithful companion in most Japanese cuisine.
Desiring for a staple appetite ? ~ Head for the Teppan Itameshi which comes in Shoyu Butter and Garlic Butter. The Shoyu butter comes off a tad saltier than the Garlic one and other than that, the difference between the two is quite insignificant.
Stirred fried on a hotplate on the spot, be prepared to have your aromatic rice served piping hot and fragrant !
