Sometimes simplicity in life doesn’t need to come at a high price, little things as such are good enough to leave us in contentment.
And the reason I set my eyes on this….. is that it’s so typical me !! With that baker’s hat, cake in the hand and the little dog at the feet. And I have no qualms about it when I drop it into the shopping cart. To me, this figurine will work wonders as a window display in a hopeful bakery of mine in the future, though it will most likely to appear in the dreams only. :)
Anyway time for a quick burger fix as we land ourselves at FAT BOYS ~ THE BURGER BAR.
So what’s the catch here ?
Known as the Fat Basterd, double beef chuck patties with chewy bacon, cheddar cheese, a fried egg and home-made Fatboy’s BBQ sauce on toasted sesame bun.
I guess it didn’t catch me by as much anticipation as I expect it to be. The beef chuck patties’ wasn’t juicy enough and the chewy bacon, which was another disappointment, was in fact too chewy for words. Fortunately, the only consolation, being the BBQ sauce, manages to salvage the day. The entire combination, though wasn’t too fancy a deal, but would certainly pass off as an average.
And the better part is you can actually mix and match your own burger set up. Appealing, isn’t it ? And Fat Boys kept a wide range of their burgers varieties which really kept one spoilt for choices.
We had the Mix Sausage Platter as the appetizer, which seems too heavy a portion as one. Two different bratwursts with 8 other mini pork sausages, comprising of 2 different favors, and at a price of S$15 is definitely a steal. However, we did not have a pleasant encounter with the dish as one of the sausages were tasted stale, or rather, going to be stale. We feedback to the service staff accordingly and they were prompt enough to replace another set of the same to us. A high service standard does make up for any shortfall in such situation.
Another plus point to note is that the french fries here is uniquely different from what we always seen around. They are long, slender and very flat looking. Notice the length of the fries comes up to more than half of the length of the cutlery knife !
And well, they sure taste GOOD ! Very potatoery and fried to a right crisp. We are commonly overdosed by a large amount of french fries at fast food joints and leftovers fries is a common sight, especially for the ladies. However, the fries here came at a right portion where it kept one satisfied and yet not overly stuffed. And for the first time, I managed to finish up the entire portion of fries that came along with the burger !
