I, for one, cannot do without spice ~ chillies, peppers, curries ~ my daily dosage cannot do without either one of these. Someone told me that as we aged, the degree to which we can handle our spice level will dropped. But me for sure, has been testing new limits of spiciness with every other spicy food that I can handle each time. So is it simply a myth ?? Maybe I should write to MythBusters to get them to burst this myth !! How about that ? Haha !
Anyway this is not an advertorial of any sort ~ just wanting to share one of my favourite dine-out foods ~ the Curry Fish Head @ West Co’z Cafe. Cooked in a large claypot with abundance of greens like long beans, lady fingers and eggplants, the sumptuous and very very spicy gravy is enhancely stimulating.
No believe ?? Just look at the picture below, just a few ladles of gravy on the rice, can you spot the amount of chilli padis in it ?? Yes, it is that spicy. Very.
And for a dine-in price of S$16, it’s a real steal ! Considering the large pot of gravy you get to enjoy. Of course, going it with plain rice is the way to go, but if there’s a choice of baguette or some loaf bread to go along, it will do equally great as well ! So West Coz Cafe, do consider my suggestion ! ^-^
The place is always filled to the brim during dinner hours, especially during the weekends, so do try to be there early !

good morning, joyce. It's a myth..my father still takes a lot of chilli, you know especially those red chilli stuffed with fish meat, the hotter the better! At times i cant even stand the hotness of those red chillies but he's enjoying that. Just yesterday a friend told me that if i were to go to singapore, must try their black pepper crabs, i dont know which rest he's talking abt but he said that black pepper crabs are also quite famous in sg. If comparing a dollar to a dollar, i think SGD16 is a very good deal!! so this month shld be more relaxed for you..i supposed.
You are very fast, lena, I think I just posted this not long ago.. and I saw your comment already ! Wow.. I think your father can take part in those "eat chilli" competition.. u know where I see on TV, those japanese variety shows whereby the people seems to be enjoying chilli oil/soup like nobody business.. Yeah black pepper crabs is good in singapore.. but for me, I still prefer the chilli ones.. coz the sauce can be dipped with mantou. And famous serving crabs can be quite expensive here… especially when they go by weight and their "brands"…Yes, in fact my boss just ask me to hand-over some work to my colleague already ! Hahaha!! But one month later, I will have to slog like mad again !
I just had my lunch there ! I would say the curry fish head is nicer when it just started and was selling at $10! It's stil good now though . Do try out their fried noodles , mee goreng and dried beef noodles are good.
Yes, i could just eat the gravy and rice only! it looks so rich and inviting! and good luck on your new job!
Hi Angel, yes ! Agreed too that the standard has dropped slightly compared to the past. Would certainly try out their noodles on our next trip there. Thanks for the recommendation !
Thanks crustabakes !! I hope the new job would be good too !
