It was my first time to order online for fresh groceries and seafood and I must say, it’s indeed quite a breeze. In fact, I seem to buy almost everything online now except for fresh produce. As far as I know, I haven’t met anyone who has attempted to buy fresh produce online yet, I guess most people still has the traditional thinking of being able to see and feel the food that goes into you, thereby shopping at the physical stores is probably still a must. After all, you get to choose the freshest cream of the crop and buying only those that you deem is indeed good. But as I understand, most families are dual income workers now, hence groceries shopping has become a weekly affair too. But by the end of the week, the original fresh produce would also become “not so fresh” already.
So how about ordering online for a change ? After all, deliveries happen on a daily basis and you get the equally same fresh produce as well, or even fresher at times ! I love the fact that I can laze back in bed longer during the weekends now, without going through the early morning rush to grab the fresh produce and even more so for the delivery that comes by as I no longer need to lug a trolley basket chiong-ing around the neighbourhood like a mad aunty. You really ought to see the crowds at my nearby supermarket, especially during the mornings, when the packers will start to unload all the fresh fruits and produce onto the shelves. It can be very overwhelming at times !!
With that, I choose PurelyFresh who offers the option to deliver fresh produce and groceries right to the doorstep, and the best part of it all, freshness guarantee !!
Here’s my loot from Purelyfresh, order placed on a Friday with delivery that follows the next day !!
Am also quite glad that they do pack the stuffs separately, as I am quite particular in this area with the seafood, meats, veges and fruits in different bags. Oh yeah, something notable about PurelyFresh, they work so much like an online supermarket that I could even place orders for household cleaning stuffs and toiletries too ! These are super bulky items which I really detest to purchase from the physical store as I need to endure the heavy weights to lug back everything. So in one go, I decide I shall buy everything from PurelyFresh since that’s gonna be free delivery for purchases $60 and above (limited period only though!).
Here’s a glimpse of the entire purchase ! Even the vege are all green and fresh, not a single strand of withered leaf or anything near that. The fruits are in good condition too, not a sign of dent. My fridge is stuffed to the brim now ! So all I gotta do now is to cook as much as possible to clear it and I shall start off with the Fresh Norwegian Salmon !
I love the bright orange hue of the fresh salmon, hence I decide to cook a Poached Salmon to preserve as much of the goodness and nutrients as possible.
Everyone know the benefits of the salmon fish and cooking it the poached way adds on to its healthiness. Here’s the base that’s used to poach the salmon.
I serve my poached salmon together with some boiled carrots from the soup stock that cooks the salmon and some aglio olio. And all it takes for this healthy dish is less than 30 minutes ! It’s as good as it can be !! Sometimes the best things in life are those that are drawn out from simplicity, isn’t it ?
After all, salmon is quite an expensive fish to begin with and to cook it the simplest healthy way to retain the most nutrients out of it will ensure your money that goes into it is well spent too !
Now now now, other than the recipe, here’s something else that you can look forward to !!

- Remove the salmon, sprinkle some black pepper powder over it. Serve with carrots or other vegetables as desired.
